Snowpocalypse! Snowmageddon! SnOMG!

We currently sit under a record breaking blanket of snow!  The flakes started falling mid-morning on Friday and the view from the deck was unimpressive.

Seven hours later it was starting to pile up.

We woke up on Saturday morning to this fantastic sight!

By the time the flakes stopped falling on Saturday evening we had 34 inches on the ground.  CRAZY!!

The kids had a great time climbing all over the snow.

Matthew and I started to dig out but before we got more than five feet down the walkway our heroes appeared.

These gentleman from the neighborhood dug us out in about two hours.  They were AMAZING!!  We are forever grateful for their hard work and our backs thank them today.

Here's the view from our newly shoveled front walk.  Yup, that's a snow bank reaching nearly to the roof of our garage.

Christopher had  a lot more energy for the snow than his sister so the boys played outside for a long time.

And I took Hannah inside to color.  No complaints from me!

It's a beautiful site outside but since it was snowing all day yesterday I didn't get a ton of great pics.  I'll be happy when the sun moves to the other side of the house and it's not so bright in the backyard.  I'm super envious of all the great icicle pictures!  If only there wasn't 34 inches of snow on the deck I could get out and walk around!

UPDATE:  I opened my back sliding door to grab this shot.

  1. love, love, love that icicle shot. and I'm really jealous I didn't think to take the same picture a few times to track progress. What a great idea!

  2. I love the icicles too. And the way that you captured the sunshine in the actual icicle. I agree about the beauty out there. There is so much but there is so much snow getting in the way, too.
