Clutter Photography Assignment Due

I must say, I'm not super impressed with my pics this week.  It seems like everywhere we went had bad lighting or was SUPER busy.  Difficult to get nice, uncluttered pics in such places!

Here's my two best.  I like this first one of Hannah because I used a shallow depth of field (area of focus, we will talk about it next week) to blur out the busy background.  You can still tell that she's outdoors but it doesn't take away from the main point of the picture.  I wish you could see that her feet are three feet off the ground but I think the look on her face helps you imagine it.

This one of Christopher was difficult because the play-place where we were was SUPER busy with lots of toys and bright colors.  It was difficult to find a non-busy picture in the bunch but I feel this one captures the idea of his fun in playing pretend without all the business of the toys and things in the background.

Now it's your turn. Upload your favorite 1-3 shots from this week showing how you've de-cluttered your pictures. Using the Mister Linkey fields below type in your name and enter the permalink of your post or picture. Be sure to link back to this post if possible, either in the text of your post or the caption of your picture.

If you have a blog make sure to talk about what (if anything) you learned about clutter as you checked your corners this week. As always, leave a comment below with feedback for me. Feel free to click on to other class member's photos and leave feedback for them also.

You have until 11:00 PM (EST) on Monday evening, March 8, to upload and link your photographs. Good luck and please let me know if you have any questions!

  1. Thanks for the assignment Amy. I would not have gotten out my camera this week without it. :)

  2. Another thought... were you using a fixed 35mm lens for those shots Amy?

  3. Yes Christy, I was using my NEW fixed 35mm lens. I like it better than the 50mm for all the reasons PW listed :-)

  5. Can you add me, Corinne? I had the same problem as Christy-wasn't taking as many pics this week for some reason. I hope I got the assignment right.

  7. Alright, this week I had two newborn sessions, so that's where my pics are coming from. Maybe that's boring b/c it's what I do all the time, but I still like the pics :D
    By the way,
-Corinne - I'd love to see your pics so can you add me or tell me how to see the pics...
-Jen - I tried leaving a comment on your blog...but I really have NO clue about blogs so I think I did it wrong...but for the record I loved the pics :D

  8. My youngest son got his 1st haircut by daddy this past weekend so I used that opportunity to 'watch my corners'... especially trying not to get too much house clutter in the background.
I love both of your pics Amy. The contrasting colors are awesome... Hannah with her blue eyes and pink jacket and Christopher with his blue eyes and checkerboard hat. You capture such great expressions!
