Last year we missed out on Pie Night when, ten minutes after arriving at my mom's house, Christopher fell 9 feet out of a tree and we ended up spending the night in the ER. Fortunately this year was much less eventful and included only pie making and appetizer consuming.
I'm a little amazed at how much my pictures have evolved over the years! In 2008 I wrote about the tradition and in 2009 I wrote about getting the kids involved. Here are some pictures from last night.
The kids made Cream Cheese Pie - my absolute favorite! Hannah was making such an awful face as she started to work on a lemon. I asked her if she was ok and she said, "Mom, this is hard work! If I make a happy face like this," and she smiles, "it's not right. So, I have to make a hard work face for this." PS. Those are lemon stickers on her shirt.

My mom made pie crust for at least 10 hours straight. This is about six hours in, and she has a smile on her face! When I left, about nine hours in, she was still having fun!

Mashing up some butternut squash.

Apple pie!

Let's call this picture When Tall Pregnant People Make Pie.

Uncle Lou made Shoo Fly Pie. I hope there's some left for Thanksgiving so I can try it.

The little kids had fun too.

A sneak attack from a Ninjabread Man.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Looks delish!
ReplyDeleteThat's it... I'm officially submitting papers so I can be adopted by your family! And I love the "hard workin' pie" face :)
ReplyDeleteThat's awesomeness! If you all do that before Christmas get me an invite, we'll be home this year. :)
ReplyDeleteBut really - wow - that looks like SO much fun!
Any chance of us getting the cream cheese pie recipe out of you?
ReplyDeleteMy family is from Eastern PA so I know shoo fly pie! My favorite family cake is a molasses cake which is similar.
