Good Morning 2013

Instead of New Year's resolutions this year I'm making some plans (I liked the idea in this post about DOING something). In no specific order I will do the following thing in the first six months of 2013. I'll revisit this list in June and modify my plans where necessary.
  • Blog two times each week
    • I meet with a couple of friends on Wednesday and Friday mornings for Office Hours. We go to Starbucks or Panara and sit in front of our laptops and get some work done in the company of friends. It's a perfect time to blog and I can at least get two posts out per week. I'd like to also schedule a third post for Monday but that's more of a dream.
  • Lose weight
    • Last year I lost a significant amount of weight between February and July and then gained half of it back between Halloween and Christmas. The best way for me to lose weight is to diet and the healthiest, most successful diet I've ever done has been to completely cut out grain, sugar and alcohol. It's hard but if I just promise to "eat healthy" I let myself cheat too often. I want to go down two pants sizes. If I can do that in the next six months I will modify my diet in June.
  • Clean and organize my laundry room
    • We've lived in this house for 9 years and 11 months and there are still some boxes in my laundry room that haven't been unpacked. There are also two bookshelves of toys that are no longer age appropriate for my children. I will unpack, sort, declutter and organize the laundry room.
  • Make a "To Learn" list for the kids and work through it
    • We've tried a Summer Fun List and a Winter Fun List so this year we're trying a Things I'd Like To Learn List. So far the kids have each picked an activity that requires attending a class (gymnastics and karate) and Hannah has started back with piano lessons. We are also adding things like "doing the laundry" and "cooking dinner" and "going grocery shopping." I'll post the list after we finish creating it.
  • Read one non-fiction book each month
    • I've been a little obsessed with the Overdrive app on my tablet which lets me borrow digital books from the library with one click... like Christmas every day. I want to make sure I'm getting some learning mixed in with my murder mysteries and young adult fiction
  • Learn how to use Photoshop properly
    • I'd like to take a class and not just try to learn on my own. This will depend on the availability and cost of a Photoshop class.
  • Work on learning Spanish
    • I'm not sure how to put this one in specific terms because I know I can't "learn Spanish" in six months. But I will work through my Spanish Rosetta Stone and I will look into being a language partner for someone where I can help with their English and they can help with my Spanish.
What are YOUR plans for 2013?

THAT IS SO WEIRD. I remember so vividly the day we moved you in. And it also stands out still as one of my all time favorite memories. (Seriously.)

*"this year we're trying a Things I'd Like To Learn List."

THAT IS THE COOLEST IDEA. You rock.

*"Read one non-fiction book each month"

I love non-fiction and weirdly, read it more than fiction, so if you want any suggestions let me know. And let me know what you read that you like!

*"Learn how to use Photoshop properly"

You should talk to Mary G. I mean B.

*"Work on learning Spanish. I'm not sure how to put this one in specific terms because I know I can't "learn Spanish" in six months."

We can practice in Spanish if you want when I'm home!!!! Also, you can learn Spanish in six months, trust me, it just helps if you move to Bolivia, live with a Bolivian family, work with a bunch of Bolivians, and spend every day with teenage girls who laugh at your language skills. La desperación es una maestra buena. (Desperation is a good teacher.)

    1. You crack me up.

Since I can't move to Bolivia I'll work with what I have here. But thanks for the suggestion :-)

We are definitely having a 10 year anniversary party next month!!

I will SO be at that 10 year anniversary party-- you better believe it.

Living with you was possibly one of my favorite things ever. I miss eating Cheerios with Hannah and Christopher. Sigh...

    1. I actually think it's 9 years and 10 months because we moved in at the end of February.

I LOVED having you live here!!
